West Bengal Education Minister Perth Chatterjee met all the vice-chancellors on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the opening of state colleges and universities. After the meeting, the education minister told a press conference, “Colleges and universities are not opening yet. The hostel will not be opened. Colleges and university laboratories will be open only for researchers. All odd number of semesters i.e. third or fifth semester, all the semester exams will be online. All those tests will end by March 31.
Regarding Saraswati Puja, Perth Chatterjee said, “Whether Saraswati Puja can be performed in colleges and universities depends on the decision and management of the concerned authorities.” Everything has to be done with Covid hygiene in mind. ‘
For the time being, the lion’s share of the vice-chancellors have proposed to the state government to close colleges and universities. In this context, their argument is that only regional level students do not study in colleges and universities. Students from the state and even from outside the country come to study in colleges and various universities. So it is important to open a hostel. But in the current cowardly situation it is not possible to open a hostel. Therefore, it has been decided that college-university classes in the state are not going to start now.
Besides, there are many tests left. They will also be taken online. The way online reading was going. The test will be taken in the same way. According to the education minister, the exams for the odd number of semesters will be taken online by March 31. The Vice-Chancellors will decide on the examination of an even number of semesters in the next meeting.
