Let’s support them through this journey. Let’s salute them in our prayers.
Nurses are the backbone of the hospital. Taking care of the Covid affected for months putting their lives at risk.
We salute the frontline workers! 12th May is marked as International Nurses Day (IND). It started in 1965 and every year the celebration is focused on different dedicated themes.
In January 1974, May 12 was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
Each year, themes are set to pay a tribute to those frontline workers. This year the theme for international Nurse Day (IND) 2021is Nurses: A voice to Lead- A vision for future healthcare. With the pandemic larking on us, the world could not be more grateful to our nurses amid the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the WHO, ”nurses account for more than half of all the world’s health workers, yet there is an urgent shortage of nurses worldwide with 5.9 million (2020) more nurses still needed, especially in low- and middle-income countries”
Without any doubt it can be said, nurses and other health workers are the top priorities now. We will not win the battle against outbreaks if we don’t support them. Let’s support them through this journey. Let’s salute them in our prayers.
