Uttam Kumars favourite Kabiraji Place ‘Dhiren Cabin’

The neglected corners of the city will unlock something unique.The famous- Dhiren’s Cabin!
One such famous snacks is Kabiraji, apart from sweet, misti doi, Mach, Bengalis love to take pride.
History of Kabiraji: It was Dhirendranath Dey, who started this small café in 1935.
It is to be believed that the word ‘Kabiraji’ derived from ‘coverage cutlet’ or ‘cover egg’ cutlet, a dish introduced by the British.
The famous shop Dhiren’s Cabin: In Shovabazar area of North Kolkata, there is a quaint little eatery named Dhiren’s Cabin. The signature dish of this shop is Fish Kabiraji. Some of the city’s celebrated citizens from different walks of life including matinee idol, Uttam Kumar, Bhanu Bandopadhyay, Manna De, Ramkumar Chattopadhyay, Srikumar Chattopadhyay, Pankaj Roy were frequent customers for an evening snacks.
