Justice Rajasekhara Mantha withdrew himself from the case of Sumit Roy who is the General Secretary of All India Trinamool Congress, and MP Abhishek Banerjee.
Abhishek’s secretary Sumit was named as the main witness in the coal case. The case was heard on Monday. At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Mantha decided to withdraw him self from the case. As a result, the case is expected to be heard by a new bench of the high court. However, Sumit got some relief.
During the trial, the high court granted Sumit two months of “interim protection” in December. The ED has taken charge of the investigation of the case. A few weeks ago, Justice Mantha questioned the role of the ED.
