Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday expressed hope that justice will be done to Azam Khan, a senior SP leader who has been languishing in jail for over two years now. Yadav alleged that the government was tightening legal grip on Khan so that he could not get out of jail.

Addressing a function, Akhilesh said that it was an attempt to detain Azam Khan in jail so that he couldn’t get out of jail. He also said that those who have been accused of wrong-doings are roaming free but are not committing any wrong-doings at all.

The Samajwadi Party president, Akhilesh Yadav, on Wednesday expressed hope that justice will be done to Azam Khan – the party leader languishing in jail for over two years. “I pray to God that he gets justice,” Yadav said in Azamgarh after attending an event there.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at his native place Etawah, Yadav said: “The government is trying to implicate Azam Khan in false cases so that he could not get out of jail and would be kept there till 2022 elections”.

“We are hopeful that the judiciary will ensure justice to Azam Khan ji”, he said while speaking at a programme in Azamgarh today.
