The Congress on Sunday called for enacting a law guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP) for crops and said its aim was to ensure that farmers were “debt-free”.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said that introducing a law guaranteeing MSP is the way to make farmers debt-free. He said the government should keep in mind that the land reforms have not yet been implemented, adding that the party will strongly oppose any move to bring back the earlier farm laws.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said that his party is in favour of enacting a law guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP) for crops, and wants to ensure that farmers are “debt-free”.
