Good Bye Leo: A fan letter

Good Bye Leo: A fan letter

Staff Reporter, DNI: My love for this sport began with watching a video of a 5’7 genius from Rosario. Dinho was a magician and his shoes were hard to fill. But before he left, he knew this wonder kid from Argentina was poised to be the greatest. Then came the moment. A hat-trick at 19. That 3-1 over United. Years of intense battle at the El Clasico. Over the years we saw the greatest trio in club football, we witnessed magic. Tackle and tackle, Messi manoeuvred his way into history. Goal after goal, year after year. Right alongside his rival another genius of the game they changed footballing stats. For 10 years we debated and witnessed domination at the greatest level of the game. A feat that still feels impossible.

Leo achieved all there Is to achieve in club football. His achievements deserved the grandest of farewells on the last match of his career at Camp Nou. But now he may play in Camp Nou in different colors. He may play against the club that pushed the kid with growth hormone deficiency towards the path of glory.

Adios, Leo.
